Manufacturing facilities fall under OSHA's general industry standard (29 CFR 1910.151), which requires trained first aid responders when no medical facility is within near proximity. For high-hazard manufacturing operations, OSHA interprets "near proximity" as 3 to 4 minutes, effectively requiring on-site trained responders at all times.

Additional OSHA standards may apply depending on your operations: confined space entry (1910.146) requires CPR-trained rescue team members, Process Safety Management (1910.119) requires trained emergency responders, and bloodborne pathogens (1910.1030) applies to designated first aid responders.

    Manufacturing-Specific Risks

Manufacturing environments present unique hazards including machinery entanglement, chemical exposure, electrical equipment, confined spaces, and thermal injuries. The combination of these hazards with the physical demands of manufacturing work means that medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest, can occur with little warning.

Having CPR-trained responders on every shift ensures that response begins immediately, before EMS can arrive. In many manufacturing facilities, the distance from the plant floor to the nearest hospital makes on-site first response the only viable option during the critical first minutes.

    Training Your Team On-Site

CPR-Professionals brings everything needed for training directly to your facility. We work around your production schedule, training groups during shift changes, lunch periods, or dedicated safety training days.

Our Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED course covers all AHA-required content plus discussion of scenarios relevant to manufacturing environments. Every participant receives an AHA eCard valid for two years.
